Geosearcher is now in the App Store!

Geosearcher is a simple, free app which allows you to enter some coordinates to a location and get the distance and direction to the location. If you are using an iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4, it will also give you your current heading so that you can follow the line more easily.

Above is Geosearcher’s main screen.  From it, you may enter some coordinates to navigate to from your current location.  These can be in either full decimal form: (i.e. 39.3444, -75.2222 would direct you here, somewhere in rural New Jersey) or you can enter coordinates in terms of minutes and thousands of minutes (i.e. N 34° 07.297 W 118° 24.656 would direct you here, somewhere in Beverly Hills, CA).

After entering those coordinates, the screen will look like this:

As you can see, it is over 2000 miles from the app’s current location to Beverly Hills. As you can see from the picture, you can also get driving directions to your location.  Finally, you can change the N and W longitude and latitude by tapping on the N or W.

You can also store the coordinates and come back to the again later.  For instance, are you looking for a geocache? Store the coordinates in the list of saved coordinates and load it up when you get to the place where you’re headed. Then, follow the heading and distance straight to your destination!

From your saved locations list, you can tap the arrow to edit the location or tap the name to either edit or lock it in as your destination.  See the picture below for what this looks like.  “Navigate to Location” will lock you into that destination on the main page, and edit location will allow you to change the name or coordinates of the saved location.
