The primary purpose of this document is to help you with some of the (especially new) features of Disc Golf Scorekeeper.

(This will be updated on a regular basis with new answers, etc.)

Disc Golf 2.0 Progress Report

Sunday, June 12th, 2011

At this point, I’ve been working on the app update quite a bit. However, I do not think I will meet my original deadline.

The reason for this is that I’ve been able to integrate even more features than I originally thought.

Here are some things that are ALREADY working:
• Posting games to Facebook
• Posting games to Twitter
• Using pictures to represent players
• Using GPS location to get a list of nearby courses to play.
• Using GPS to calculate the distance of any throw.

…And there’s so much more still to come!

We’re very excited about this app, and we can’t wait to share the finished product with the world!

Disc Golf Scorekeeper 1 Year Anniversary

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

The one year anniversary of our biggest app, the Disc Golf Scorekeeper will be coming up at the end of June (in about a month).  There are a lot of things that I’ve wanted to do with the app, but I’ve just never been able to do because of lack of time and such.  Now that Otto the Otter is out, and I don’t really have any other apps in the pipeline (yet), I really want to do a major version 2.0 release of Disc Golf Scorekeeper.

Since the anniversary is coming up, I’d like to do that as a deadline for me to get it in the App Store. I will do my very best to release this complete overhaul of the app on June 23, 2011 to commemorate the anniversary.  I feel like Baked Ham Games has come a long way in the short time that it’s been around, and I really want to make the best product possible for my customers.

Some things I plan to include:

  • Complete overhaul of the entire app (i.e. rewriting everything from scratch) to make it the best it can be
  • Support for up to 27 holes per game
  • The long-awaited GPS-assisted tracking of throws, discs, player stats, etc.
  • Players saved to be added again later easily
  • Players will be represented by photos and not just names
  • Courses will be saved to be played again later easily
  • Pars & distances for each hole on each course will be saved so that they only need to be entered once ever
  • Facebook & Twitter integration to post your scores for all to see (hopefully there will be time for this)

I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me, but I want to do the very best I can for those who have given your valuable money to help Baked Ham Games continue.

If you have any questions, feature requests, or comments, now is the time to sound-off! We have a long month ahead, and I’m excited.

Disc Golf Scorekeeper 1.2.2 and RPG Toolkit Lite 1.3 released

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

Disc Golf Scorekeeper 1.2.2 is now available in the App Store. It adds a few features that were requested by our users.

Firstly, it now uses in-app email to send the score cards. This allows you to see your card before sending it, and it also allows you to use your iPhone address book to pick and choose addresses.
Also, it fixes a few bugs and improves the user interface a bit, based on comments by users.

Finally, RPG Toolkit’s lite version got an update to help it coincide with the release of 1.30 of the main app, which occurred earlier this week.

We’ve also got some things that we’re working on, and we hope to announce them in the very near future.

Disc Golf Scorekeeper 1.2 now available!

Monday, September 20th, 2010

Apple has finally approved version 1.2 of Disc Golf Scorekeeper.  It adds two very highly-requested features to the app.

  1. View current scores for all players – I’ve dropped in a little button on the main scoreboard screen that lets players quickly glance all the overall scores of all the players.  Ideally, it would be nice to show everyone’s complete scorecard on the same screen, but alas, there is just not enough real estate on the iPhone screen for this.  What we can do, though, is view a quick pop-up of everyone’s totals that doesn’t interfere with the main screen at all and can be easily closed.
  2. E-mail your scorecards! – This is the big draw for this update!  I’ve added the ability to easily send nice-looking e-mails of your scorecards to everyone involved.  All you have to do is tap the e-mail button and type in some e-mail addresses (separated by commas).   You don’t have to type anything in the e-mail itself, the app will format it nicely and send it along to whomever you choose.

I’d love to get your feedback!  If you really like the new e-mail feature, let me know!  If anyone doesn’t have the app, but would like to see screenshots of this in action, leave a comment and I will post some.

E-mailing Disc Golf Scores

Monday, July 26th, 2010

Good morning all,

Many of you have e-mailed asking when you’ll be able to e-mail scores out to people on a Disc Golf Scorekeeper game.  Well, thanks to a suggestion from snowboarderron, there’s a quick and easy way to do that.

If you want to send the scores to your friends, simply take a screen shot of either the “Final Scores” page, or go through and take shots of each screen of the scoreboard in the “Previous Games” section.  To take a screen shot, hold down the home button and press the lock button.  Your screen will flash to let you know that you have taken one.  More detailed information can be found here.

Also, I am currently working on a much better (in-app) way to send your scores via e-mail, and it should be ready for the next release (1.2, not 1.1 which should be released soon).

Have fun everyone!

Disc Golf Scorekeeper 1.1 Available Now!

Monday, July 19th, 2010

Hello all! I have updated this post to let you know that version 1.1 is now on the App Store.  I am hard at work on version 1.2 now as well.

I’ve been getting lots of great feedback about the app both here and via e-mail, and I’d like to address a few of the issues that you have brought up (as well as some things that I thought needed to be added as well):

  • Player names font has been changed to something more readable
  • Pars can be imported when playing at a location that has been previously played
  • Previous Games may now be deleted – just swipe across them on the “Past Games” screen
  • Confirm quit on “End Game Here” button – Now, if you accidentally click this button, the game won’t end until you confirm that you do, indeed, want to quit.
  • Fixed an issue that could occur if “End Game Here” button was clicked at a certain time
  • Slightly improved interface for editing scores and pars

Progress is still being made on the GPS portion of the app, but I think I’d like to make some changes to how I am doing things since I have learned more about GPS in general.  Don’t worry, it is coming, but it just may be a longer wait than originally anticipated. Until that point, I will continue working on the GPS portion, and also, constantly improving the rest of it and adding more features as I can.
